The Biography of Ron Carter

Ron Carter first sat behind the microphone professionally in February of 1980. In the “Tree City” (Greensburg, Indiana) at WTRE-FM, Ron began his journey attracting and entertaining listeners nationwide. After broadcasting on-the-air as a highly rated disc jockey at stations like K-96 in Richmond; 92X in Columbus, Ohio and WNAP Indianapolis (where Ron was voted the number one disc jockey in 1985 by an Indianapolis Star readers poll), Ron Carter became Director of Creative Services in 1986 at WEAG-FM Indianapolis. His promos and commercials earned him a reputation throughout the radio industry as a highly skilled producer in demand.

In 1989, while performing as Director of Creative Services at KZZP in Phoenix, Ron produced a touching tribute to the victims of the San Francisco Earthquake featuring newsclips and utilizing Journey’s song “Lights” that ran on the ABC radio network worldwide. Also in 1989, Ron voiced ABC’s Hot Mix of the Decade and became the voice of Denmark’s Power Station in Copenhagen. Since that year, Ron has served as Creative Director at B-97 in New Orleans, KSD-FM in St. Louis and most recently, WILV-FM Chicago. Ron has recently left WILF-FM in Chicago to start up RCP (Ron Carter Productions llc) which is now serving many advertising agencies, radio stations, televsion studios and more.

Ron Carter currently resides in Kenosha, Wisconsin with his wife, Sherrie, and their three children - Jennifer, Zachary and Amanda. Ron has been the voice on Microsoft commercials, JCPenney ads, Sears, Edwardo’s Pizza, McDonalds, Pepsi, LaCroix Sparkling Water, and more. His voice can now be heard on Radio and TV in Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, Iowa, Indiana, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska and in many attractions on the parkway in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Ron Carter’s vocal range varies from a warm, sensitive, friendly read, to cartoon characters, to the gritty, over-the-top, hard sell read.
